Game 3: Red Sox Hope Third Time's A Charm Against The Rangers

New, 541 comments

The Red Sox look to hopefully capture their first win of the season today as they take on the Texas Rangers in the series finale before heading off to Cleveland tomorrow.

In case you haven't noticed, the Red Sox are now 0-2 and have yet to make a game close to this point.  The offense hasn't been spectacular (putting up a five spot in both games) but the pitching has been horrendous.  The Rangers have combined to score 21 runs in just two games.  Hopefully the third time is a charm for the Sox today.

Today's lineup features a little bit of a shake up, you'll notice that Carl Crawford will be batting seventh today against the lefty after going a combined 0 for 7 with four strikeouts in his first two outings.  Meanwhile, Adrian Gonzalez will take his hot bat to the third spot in the lineup.  Meanwhile, OTM favorite Jed Lowrie will be getting the start at shortstop and Darnell McDonald will be starting in right.  Here's the full lineup:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF

2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B

3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B

4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B

5. David Ortiz, DH

6. Jed Lowrie, SS

7. Carl Crawford, LF

8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

9. Darnell McDonald, RF

On the mound for the Red Sox today will be right hander Clay Buchholz, who will looking to turn the fortunes of Red Sox pitching.  Buchholz will be looking to limit the Rangers' offense ofter Jon Lesterand John Lackey combined to give up five home runs and 14 earned runs.

As for the Rangers offense, Red Sox killer Mike Napoli will be back in the lineup and former Sox prospect Daniel Murphy will get the start in left today.  Here's the rest of the lineup:

1. Ian Kinsler, DH

2. Michael Young, 2B

3. Josh Hamilton, CF

4. Adrian Beltre, 3B

5. Nelson Cruz, RF

6. David Murphy, LF

7. Mike Napoli, C

8. Mitch Moreland, 1B

9. Andres Blanco, SS

On the mound for the Rangers will be left hander Matt Harrison, who is returningto the Rangers rotation after being moved to the bullpen due to the Cliff Lee trade.
