Fresh off a much needed two-day break, the Boston Red Sox look to regroup as they welcome the Toronto Blue Jays to Fenway Park Friday night to begin a four-game series.
The Red Sox, as we all know, own the league's worst record at 2-9 and look to turn their fortunes around against the 6-6 Blue Jays. The Blue Jays bullpen will look to regroup as they allowed all eight runs to the Mariners in the eighth and ninth innings in a 7-8 loss.
The Blue Jays will be bringing a lineup to Boston that contains a lot of guys who can hit the ball out the park, something that the Red Sox have struggled to deal with all season long.
1. Yunel Escobar, SS
2. Corey Patterson, CF
3. Jose Bautista, RF
4. Adam Lind, 1B
5. Aaron Hill, 2B
6. J.P. Arencibia, C
7. Travis Snyder, LF
8. Juan Rivera, DH
9. Jayson Nix, 3B
As for the Red Sox, they will be sending out their same old lineup with a bit of twist at the bottom of the order.
1. Carl Crawford, LF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. J.D. Drew, RF
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
8. Marco Scutaro, SS
9. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
Terry Francona will try and see how effective Ellsbury is hitting out of the nine hole tonight. Jarrod Saltalamacchia makes his return to the lineup after his wife gave birth to their third child earlier this week.
The Red Sox will be sending right hander Clay Buchholz to the mound, his first start after signing a four-year, 30.5 million dollar extension with the club. Buchholz will be opposed by left hander Brett Cecil, who is looking for his first win of the season.
