Former Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell will be returning to Ft. Myers for the first time since becoming the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays as his team is set to face his former team at City of Palms Park at 7:05 P.M. EST.
The Red Sox will look to snap their seven-game losing streak as they head home to hopefully get some answers. They look to do so with the likely Opening Day lineup:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Carl Crawford, LF
4. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
5. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
6. David Ortiz, DH
7. J.D. Drew, RF
8. Jason Varitek, C
9. Marco Scutaro, SS
On the mound for the Red Sox will be Josh Beckett, who will look to bounce back after two dreadful performances against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Relieving Beckett tonight will be Jonathan Papelbon, Daniel Bard, and roster hopefuls Hideki Okajima and Dennys Reyes.
As for Farrell's Jays, it's a typical road team lineup during Spring Training (not a lot of regulars):
1. Corey Patterson, CF
2. Mike McCoy, 2B
3. Eric Thames, DH
4. Edwin Encarnacion, 3B
5. David Cooper, 1B
6. J.P. Arencibia, C
7. Adam Loewen, RF
8. Jonathan Diaz, SS
9. Anthony Gose, LF
On the mound for the Blue Jays will be right-hander Jesse Litsch, who will be making his fifth start this Spring for the Jays. In relief of Litsch will be left-hander David Purcey and right-hander Carlos Villanueva.
The game is very fan-friendly today as it will be televised on NESN and will be broadcasted on the radio on WRKO 680 AM.
Go Sox!
