Game -16: Red Sox Visit Victor Martinez, Tigers In Lakeland

Though it seemed like something of a foregone conclusion, the departure of Victor Martinez was one of the offseason's more controversial moves. After all, there's not many catchers with bats floating around, and when one is not only available, but inclined to stay with your team, that's quite the situation to pass on.

And yet, the Red Sox did, allowing Victor Martinez to jump ship to the Detroit Tigers. They'll be reminded for the first time just what they're missing out on today, when Martinez bats fifth against the Sox.

For their part, the Sox have brought a decent squad with them on the road today:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF

2. Carl Crawford, LF

3. J.D. Drew, RF

4. Jason Varitek, C

5. Jed Lowrie, SS

6. Darnell McDonald, DH

7. Lars Anderson, 1B

8. Yamaico Navarro, 3B

9. Nate Spears, 2B

For those looking for a stress-free game, today might not be your day. After all, it's a Daisuke start.

If that wasn't ill enough an omen, the Tigers will respond with Justin Verlander.
