Community Projections: Lackey Lacking

Yeah, I know, an overused title.

When the Red Sox made John Lackey their big acquisition of the 2009-2010 offseason, it made for some mixed reactions. Sure, Lackey was an ace for the Angels, who had just shut down the Red Sox in the ALDS. But man, the guy was a little old, and the numbers were trending downwards.

We were right to worry. While Lackey did finish the year pretty strong, his season as a whole was a big disappointment. Even for the naysayers:

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2010 - John Lackey 14-11 34 33 0 0 0 0 215.0 233 114 105 18 72 156 4.40 1.42

That makes for a 6.53 K/9.

And, like I said, even those who didn't expect much were expecting too much. That makes for some poor predictions.

Man, way to make my new ranges look bad, guys. Oh well. I'm going with Mr. Harnden, here, because the WHIP being perfect is more impressive than starts or losses.
