Josh Beckett looks he's in regular season form. Good.
Beckett struck out nine in five innings of work against the Pirates Wednesday as the Sox finally picked up a win, 6-4. Beckett allowed three hits, two walks and just one run in the outing.
The Sox showed the ability to hit the long ball with three home runs on the day. Victor Martinez, Mike Cameron and Bill Hall all had blasts in the win. Jacoby Ellsbury also had an RBI.
Outside of Fernando Cabrera -- who allowed three runs in one innings -- the bullpen was strong. Brian Shouse and Joe Nelson, who are fighting each other for a bullpen spot, both worked an inning without allowing a run. Nelson struck out two while Shouse allowed a hit and struck out one. Tommy Hottovy allowed a hit and struck out two in his inning of work.
Red Sox are back in action Thursday against the Marlins at 1:05 p.m.
