Game 83: Beckett, Bay get Sox back on track

New, comments

Hello, start of winning streak ... right?

Jason Bay and Josh Beckett got the Sox back on track with a 5-2 win over the A's tonight. Beckett went 6.2 innings and allowed just six hits, two runs, one walk and struck out four for the win. Jason Bay went 2 for 4 with his 20th home run on the season.

Jason Varitek, Nick Green and Dustin Pedroia also had RBIs in the victory.

Justin Masterson was solid in 8th inning relief, striking out one without surrendering a hit. All-Star Jonathan Papelbon earned his 21st save of the season with a one-hit, three-strikeout 9th inning.

OK, now. The Sox need one more to win this series. How about a little momentum, huh? Sox will send out Tim Wakefield to face Trevor Cahill.
