Game Story, 8.03.07: Papi Power Ain't Enough

Source: Yahoo!
Papi hit his 19th of the season in a 7-4 loss.

Despite a 7 for 14 night from the top three in the Red Sox order, the Sox couldn't hold on to a 3-0 lead and lost, 7-4.

Pedroia led off and went 2 for 5 with two runs. Youk, batting second, went 2 for 4 with a walk. 'Tiz went 3 for 5 with a run, two RBI and his 19th dinger of the season, a solo shot in the 3rd.

Mr. Lester wasn't on his A-game. He lasted five innings, gave up eight hits, four runs, two walks and struck out four. His ERA shot up to 5.09 after his third start back to the Sox.

I love Lester's potential, but it doesn't seem to be clicking for him just yet. I think it'll take some time for him to get back into the groove and really find his rhythm. Next season, maybe? I just have this feel that come next spring training he's going to be completely adjusted, mentally ready, focused and at his peak. I hope it comes sooner, but I don't think it could happen so quickly for him.

Papi, for sure.
Mike Timlin, for coughing up three runs in 1.1 innings.
