Timlin activated; Romero DFA'd

In kind of a shocking move, JC Romero was designated for assignment to make room on the 25-man roster for Mike Timlin.

Romero's numbers weren't horrid as a Sox this season: 23 games, 20.0 IP, 15 BB, 11 SO and a 3.15 ERA. Certainly not the best numbers out of the bullpen, but they could have been worse.

This means Javier Lopez will continue to get the bulk of the call-ins against left-handed hitters. Lopez has a 3.21 ERA in 14.0 inning with 6 walks and 10 strikeouts on the season. LHB hit .297 against Romero at the time of his DFA. Lopez is much better, as LHB are hitting just .219 against him.

Terry Francona said a trade is in the works to get something in return for Romero. As long as it is in the National League, I'm fine with it. I kind of have a feeling that Romero is going to pitch well once he leaves Boston. If he does go to the NL, then he should have even better numbers.
