Boston Red Sox's Wily Mo Pena sticks out his tongue as he rests on second base after being called out on a double play against the Oakland Athletics in the fifth inning of a baseball game Tuesday, June 5, 2007, in Oakland, Calif. Red Sox's Coco Crisp was out at first base.
The Sox really need to get Daisuke Matsuzaka some run support. The games he wins, he gives up 5 runs. The games he loses, he gives up just 1 or 2. Daisuke's performance was good enough to win a game 9 times out of 10: 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 BB and 8 K.
Javier Lopez made an appearance and didn't allow a run. He gave up one hit, a walk, and struck out two.
The Sox had 3 hits. All ya' really need to know. Julio Lugo, David Ortiz and Mike Lowell took the honors. Manny Ramirez and Wily Mo Pena -- yes, I said Pena -- both earned two walks a piece.
No errors last night. Thank god.
WINNER: Let's give to Daisuke. A great performance by him, the Sox just didn't back him up with the bats.
WINNER: If I had to pick one, Coco Crisp. He pulled an 0-fer with 4 men left on base. If I could pick more than one, the ash bats sitting in the Red Sox dugout.
