Game Story, 6/16/07: Dice-K, 'pen hurl Shutout

Source: Yahoo!
Boston Red Sox's Manny Ramirez rounds the bases after his solo home run against the San Fransisco Giants during the fourth inning in their baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston Saturday, June 16, 2007.

SFG - 0 4 0
BOS - 1 5 0

W - Matsuzaka (8-5)
L - Cain (2-7)
S - Papelbon (16)
This, my friends, is how Daisuke Matsuzaka pitches when he's on his game. Although I don't think we've seen his best yet, Dice-K was nearly unhittable for 7 innings. He allowed no runs, 3 hits, 3 walks and struck out 8 poor Giants batters.

This is how Sox games are supposed to go. Starters goes 7, Hideki Okajima works the 8th, and Jonathan Papelbon finishes. Okajima was shaky at first by allowing to men on, but then struck out Barry Bonds and got the remaining 2 outs to finish the inning. Papelbon had a perfect 9th inning.

Offense? What offense? Thank you, Manny Ramirez, because if it wasn't for your solo blast then we could still be playing ball right now.

No errors is always fun.

WINNER(S): Matsuzaka and Ramirez
Both were extremely vital to the victory.

WINNER(S): Everyone who batted except Manny and Coco Crisp. Crisp had two hits, but the rest of the offense: 2-for-22.
