Jacoby Ellsbury was promoted today to the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox from the AA Portland Sea Dogs.
Ellsbury is expected to be named Eastern League player of the Month for April today. The left-handed hitter currently leads the AA Eastern League in hits (33), doubles (10), slugging % (.644), and OBP (.512). Jacoby's slugging % is remarkable given that he hasn't hit a HR yet. His OPS is a whopping 1.165.
Jacoby's BA (.452) is the highest in the minor leagues, with the runner-up 30 points lower, and his OBP (.512) is 2nd-best in the minors.
Ellsbury takes center field tonight for the PawSox, bringing with him a 15 game hitting streak. He'll be wearing #20 and batting leadoff. Good luck Jacoby, we're all rooting for you!
