The Starter:
This might be the only reason I'm writing this at all. Schilling was great, going 7 IP with 7 Ks, no BBs, and 2 ERs.
The 'Pen:
Okajima threw a scoreless inning. My brain is blocking the rest of it out. Okay. Fine. Let's get this over with. Papelbon is not perfect, never will be, though as long as his diminished velocity is just a hiccup, he'll be fine in the LT. If Tito is as smart as he's seemed thusfar, we'll see Okajima if there's a save situation tonight. I'm not sure what to say about Donnelly, and I have no idea who or if anyone else would have been better in that situation.
The Lineup:
One XBH all night long. Crisp looked good at the plate (and in the field), Manny is looking better and better at the plate. ...and how about that baserunning? Crisp, sure, that's excusable. But if Kendall is unable to throw Youks OR Lowell out at 2B, then A's fans should probably be looking forward to their FO attempting to unload him around the trade deadline.
The Field:
Coco, with the no. 1 web gem on Baseball Tonight last night. Phenomenal.
Schilling. Curt pitched more than well enough for the win.
Papelbon. He didn't have his trademark moving fastball with him last night, and it showed.
Thanks to the game thread, I got a little pick me up in the form of some A+ humor last night.
sdkramer: Can Hinske run?
Drugs Delaney: He has two legs, but the answer is no.
Priceless. And thanks guys. After a Paps blown save, I needed that.
