The Day After (4/6/07): Red Sox lose, 2-0

Source: FanGraphs.com

The Starter:

A new season means less run support for Tim Wakefield. Wakefield was strong, going 6 innings, giving up just 3 hits, 1 earned run and two walks. He struck out 4, but there just wasn't any run support for him.

The 'Pen:

Hideki Okajima got the bulk of the time in relief of Wakefield. Okajima pitched 1.1 innings and just surrended one walk. Kyle Snyder relieved him and struck out one in .2 innings of work.

The Lineup:

Not much went right when a team tallies just three hits. Manny Ramirez and Coco Crisp both had a hit and a walk on the day. Julio Lugo and Kevin Youkilis had walks, also. JD Drew went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.

Winner: Wakefield gets the nod here. Run support isn't his fault, but he still finished the game with a pretty good line.

Winner: Doug Mirabelli by the slimmest of margins, really. He went hitless, struck out once and left two on-base.
