MLB movements.
- Injured marine and new Padres MiL is not a publicity or PR stunt. This is a great story, and the guy comes off as very sincere and earnest. It's just hard to imagine that someone won't try to take advantage of the situation in some way.
-
Nationals sign Dmitri Young. ...this one can't possibly be a PR move.
-
Multiple moves. Politte to Indians (I didn't even remember his existance), Relaford to Rangers (think Mark deRosa-extremely lite), Ligtenberg to the Reds (Mark Wohlers and Greg McMichael were unavailable?).
- Manny Delcarmen's picture to the A's. Or...Lenny DiNardo to the A's. Rotoworld makes the important point that Javier Lopez (amongst others) was probably more expendable. Let's be realistic though. What could DiNardo do that Abe Alvarez or Kason Gabbard could not? It probably wasn't the smartest solution, but it's certainly not the end of the world.
...what?
Celtics...or Paul Pierce...or Celtics end 18,000-game losing streak. ESPN has a cute chart showing what has happened since the last one. Among the omissions? Chad Finn's article at TATB, which includes this important point:
1. The more I see of Kevin (37 and 23) Durant, the more I pray that M.L. Rivers and the Celtics keep Paul Pierce locked up in a broom closet until this season is safely tanked.
Amen.
This is getting long.
-
Top 100: Rick Ferrell and Jeff Reardon.
-
Devil Rays decide that it is now 'More Than Just a Game'. Failed slogans: "Now We're Going to Compete!", "Move over Orioles, 4th place is Ours." These are tongue-in-cheek, but you have to wonder what kind of message this seemingly innocuous slogan might send to over-analyzing Red Sox bloggers. Or even the Devil Rays' fanbase.
-
Halos Heaven has an interview with Jim Abbott. None of my awkwardly snide comments on this one.
- BTBS looks at judging managers objectively. Jerry Narron and Dave Miley (as) dummies.
So. What'd you do last night?
