Not too long after the duck boats parked and the streets of Boston were swept up, Curt Schilling, Bobby Kielty, Eric Hinske and Matt Clement filed for free agency.
Mike Lowell is expected to file for free agency in a couple of days.
No real big news here, just players going through the motions. No contract means filing for free agency. Simple process, no surprises. The Sox have 15 days to negotiate a contract with these players before other teams can sign them.
Now it's all about who's coming back. I can almost guarantee Clement won't be back in a Sox uniform. Hinske could come back, but I don't see it happening. Kielty is a good bat off the bench, but the Sox need to figure out their outfield situation first. Then there's Schilling and Lowell, a question we'll dive into MUCH more within the coming weeks.
In other news, I'll be posting my photos of the rally tomorrow. I had troubles uploading them to my laptop, so I'm going to have to take an alternative route to get them online tomorrow. I have a lot of great shots so keep an eye out for them.
