The deal states that if Drew's shoulder sends him the the DL in the 3rd year of the deal, the sox can void the next two. If his shoulder goes out in the 4th year, the sox can void the final year. This only pertains to the shoulder injury and any other kind would not void the contract.
Intial Reaction: Not enough protection. Should have shortened the deal or had the clause kick in year one or year two. Or less money. It's better than the initial deal, but not by a whole lot.
