Mets fan fined, banned from Shea for press stunt. Hopefully the Sox FO isn't upset with my poor impersonation of an editorial columnist here.

FJM blasts a journalist. These kinds of stories are great. Also note (as pointed out by FJM readers) that Conlin gets brain hemisphere-body control wrong.

Check rumor number three. Still should be considered a bigger loss than that whole MVP thing.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays will lead the league in 1B who have higher ceilings than Ty Wigginton or Greg Norton. Hee-Seop Choi AND Carlos Pena. Someone was jealous of the Red Sox AAA 1B situation last season.

Dayn Perry ranks ML GMs.. Perry: "He's in a class with Beane and Ryan in terms of succeeding without loosened purse strings. The difference is that Towers has been doing it for years." In the same article, he notes that Towers has been on the job since 11/95 and Terry Ryan has been on the job since 9/94. Even if you're going to argue changes in organizational philosophy, you can't: Carl Pohlad has been...frugal since August, 1915. (Frugal is my nice way of saying he's extremely cheap) At least his subconscious guilt about being wrong snuck in: he did rank Terry Ryan higher.
