- Manny gets the start in left. Things are not all good, though. Tito says he's not sure whether or not this will work or if it will be too taxing on Manny's ailing knee. As for now, Manny remains day-to-day.
- Wily Mo has also joined the bum body part club. He has a sore wrist that keeps him out of tonight's game. He is expected to miss no more than "a couple of games" as it is a matter of soreness rather than more severe damage.
- Beckett will likely be able to make his next start. Tito left the decision up to Beckett, who told him he wanted to pitch.
- Gil Meche is 0-4 with an 8.10 ERA since he beat Toronto on July 14. Wells is at the other end of the spectrum with a 2-1 record and 3.00 ERA in his last three starts.
- The Yankees dropped another game to the Angels today, so we have another shot at making up ground in the division.
