There is a nice article in the Herald today about Craig Hansen, future closer for the Boston Red Sox.
It discusses Hansen's development of a changeup. Here are a few quotes:
"'I've been throwing it in a couple of bullpens down here and it feels great," Hansen said. "It's got a lot of movement. I'm pretty happy with it right now.'
For now, he estimates that the changeup's velocity is in the low- to mid-80s, which would provide an impressive differential of 10-12 mph from his fastball."
As some of you know, Craig Hansen is MY favorite Sox prospect. I'd heard the hype last year, but nothing could prepare my for his debut. I've NEVER seen a fastball move that much. This guy is something special. It will be great to see what he can do with a full professional season, instead of a full-college season plus extras.
