I received a slip in my mailbox last night to pick up a package. It was around 5:30, so I knew I wasn't going to be able to actually pick it up because the mail room was closed at that point. So I had to wait until 8 a.m. this morning to actually get my package.
It was well worth the wait.
The package was just what I thought it was: John Sickels' Prospect Book 2006.
The day had come. I am in heaven.
I'm a first time user. And I say user because I'd assume this book is as addictive as any drug you could buy legally or illegally.
You've heard people rave about this book (or past editions before this one began arriving in mailboxes on Monday), and their raving is spot-on. Forget Baseball America and other prospect books. Sickels has the deepest, most intelligent, and easy to read prospect book in the business.
Kudos goes out to John for this amazing book. He and his family and friends have done a fine job with all aspects of it. I now have something to look forward to every year, and this is it.
If you have it and enjoy it, I'd suggest going to Minor League Ball and telling John. He appreciates the comments (and deserves them).
