News and Notes
Kevin Youkilis is back up in Boston leaving Pawtucket without their number 3 hitter after losing Roberto Petagine, their clean up hitter, last week. It's going to get even tougher for the Paw Sox to keep scoring runs. Especially since Kelly Shoppach seems to be struggling lately. Any time you have Luis Figueroa batting third, you know you're in trouble.

The disappointing play of Hanley Ramirez continued last night as he went 0-5 with 2 K's from the lead off spot. Ramirez's line is down to .272/.336/.397 on the year. The only positives to the season have been his long since forgotten about hot start and his speed. His speed has netted him 7 triples and 24 steals, although he has been caught 10 times.

Chris Naverson, designated for assignment last week to make room for Jon Papelbon on the 40 man roster, didn't make it through waivers and was claimed by the St. Louis Cardinals, the team that originally drafted him. There's a chance that Narveson will make it as a big leaguer some day, but he's still a long way away. He walks a lot of guys and doesn't strike too many out. He didn't perform very well for the Paw Sox this year and I don't think it's all that big of a loss to see him go. He'll be starting for the AAA Memphis Grizzlies now.

Jacoby Ellsbury finally made his way back into the Lowell Spinners line up, leading off and playing DH. The only problem was that the game lasted only 3 innings before the rain hit and the game was called. Look for him to be in the line up today.

Craig Hansen was in action again last night for the GCL Red Sox, getting the start. He went 2 scoreless innings, striking out 2 while only allowing 2 hits, both of them singles. The plan is for Hansen to be moved up the ladder any day now. He'll either be placed in Portland or Wilmington and to play out the rest of the year.
