News and Notes
Four runs in the first inning and one more later in the game was enough for the Paw Sox to net a victory despite a poor start by Anastacio Martinez. The bullpen, led by Manny Delcarmen and Juan Perez, capped off by a Cla Meredith save, went 6 scoreless innings. Perez struck out 5 in his 3 innings of work and Delcarmen got the win.
Portland was absolutely destroyed, 15-0, by Trenton, the Yankee AA club. The Sea Dogs couldn't do anything right including a poor start by Kason Gabbard, poor relief by everyone not named Craig Hansen (who pitched a perfect inning), and only two hits on offense.
Wilmington fared slightly better than Portland, but not by a whole lot, losing their game to Myrtle Beach 9-1. The Blue Rocks never recovered from another horrendous start by Luis Mendoza.
