A very important series against the majors best, the Chicago White Sox, starts tonight in Fenway and the Red Sox need to win this series, or else New York and Toronto are going to gain ground.
It will be tough, as the Sox face the White Sox two best pitchers in Mark Buehrle and Jon Garland -- again. Buehrle (13-4, 2.79 ERA) is on the mound tonight for the Chi Sox.
For Boston it is David Wells (9-5, 4.45 ERA) who looks to put out another quality start (6+ IP, 3- ER) after putting one out in his last start.
The lineup is the norm against a left-hander. I'm not looking forward to dealing with Scott Podsednik again:

E. Renteria ss
D. Ortiz dh
M. Ramirez lf
J. Varitek c
K. Millar 1b
T. Graffanino 2b
