Tomorrow night at Fenway Park PEN New England is holding an event called "Writing Baseball: Great Writers on the Greatest Game."
Here is what Pen-Ne.org says about the event tomorrow night:
A Panel Discussion and Evening at Fenway Park
Panelists: Roger Angell, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Stephen King, Michael Lewis, and John Updike.
Moderator: Bill Littlefield
Special Guest: Leslie Epstein
Writing Baseball: Great Writers on the Greatest Game celebrates the singular connection between baseball and writing: why this most literary of sports regularly inspires a range of great writing.
Writing Baseball is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that teams PEN New England, the Boston Red Sox, the Red Sox Nation, business and community leaders, with some of the most prominent writers of our time to advance PEN's mission: to promote literacy, develop a culture of literature, and defend freedom of expression worldwide. At this historic event you can:
* Hear a panel discussion with prominent American writers, including Roger Angell, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Stephen King, Michael Lewis, and John Updike, moderated by Bill Littlefield and special guest Leslie Epstein
* Attend a VIP reception in the Hall of Fame before the panel discussion, where committee members and their guests can talk with the featured writers, see the World Series trophy up-close, and meet Red Sox representatives--at least one of the team's owners, one or more team members, and one of the retired Red Sox greats.
* Honor renowned writer Leslie Epstein and Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein, an illustrious heritage of writing and baseball. The writing-Red Sox lineage goes deeper with Leslie Epstein's uncle Julius Epstein, who co-wrote the Casablanca movie script.
* Receive the Commemorative Journal, an extraordinary collection of some of the greatest baseball writing in history--brilliant excerpts and whole texts.
We guarantee an amazing evening.
