Randy will be out of town for another two weeks so I'm here for the open threads for a little bit.
This afternoon the Sox go for the sweep as David Wells (6-4, 4.73 ERA) goes up against Brett Myers (5-4, 2.66 ERA).
It looks as if the Phillies have the advantage until you look at how things have panned out recently. Wells has won his last 4 decisions and in his last 5 starts he's allowed 10 ER in 35.1 IP, good enough for a 2.55 ERA. In that time he's walked only 4 batters. Myers, on the other hand, was hammered in his last start, lasting only 3.1 IP as he let up 6 runs, all earned, on 10 hits and 1 walk. He's winless in his last 3 starts.
