The Sox did it. They sent Hanley Ramirez back down to Portland (AA). That means we will no longer see Ramirez this spring training.

Red Sox optioned SS Hanley Ramirez to Double-A Portland and C Kelly Shoppach to Triple-A Pawtucket; reassigned RHP Denney Tomori, RHP Kris Wilson, INF-OF Dave Berg and 3B-OF Simon Pond to minor league camp.
Ramirez had a great spring too. He batted .353, had three runs batted-in, and had some great defensive plays, including a 6-3 triple play.
I'm a little surprised that the Sox optioned Denney Tomori already. I know he was terrible, but it's not like the Sox to give up on a player so quickly.
