Yet another valued member of the Red Sox front office has departed for Arizona. This time, it's Peter Woodfork.
Woodfork, who is considered a rising star in baseball relations and management, was undoubtedly being considered as a potential replacement for Theo Epstein, though his departure comes as no surprise to the rest of the Sox management. He instead will join another ex-Sox employee Josh Byrnes in the Diamondback front office as assistant general manager.
This leaves Jed Hoyer, Craig Shipley and Ben Cherington as the remaining front runners from within the organization for the GM job.
It is my hope that either David Wilder, or one of these internal suitors win the job.
