David Wells for Dave Roberts?

Forget Manny! We might get Dave Roberts back!

According to Gordon Edes:

Yes, the Red Sox and Padres are talking about a David Wells trade, with the Sox getting a pitcher--not Sean Burroughs--and possibly Dave Roberts in return. But I'd call those talks no more than exploratory at this point.

I, for one, would be happy with this trade. Roberts is still a fan-favorite in Boston, and always will be. With him coming back he could man centerfield or leftfield, depending on what happens to Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon.

Roberts batted .275 this season, with eight home runs, ten triples, and 23 stolen bases in 115 games this season. Bump that up to 150+, and he'll have atleast 30, maybe more at the 35 area. I'd love to have him back and just let him run. Hopefully Terry Francona would do the same.
