Welcome to the first official off-season for Over The Monster!
It's not a good thing that it has happened this soon--I was hoping late October, personally--but the time had to come at some point, and no better time than now, I guess.
I've got a few things planned for the off-season. One is to do a position-by-position breakdown of the players who performed in Boston this season. The good, the bad, the ugly of each position.
I'll also have some posts dealing with guys who the Sox should release, and also I'm going to suggest a few free agent signings for the Red Sox front office to consider.
At some point I'll have the team for next season predicted; the whole 25-man roster. I'll probably be a bit off, but hey, that's me. I've always been a bit off.
Predicted award winners for next season will come sometime before spring training, but right now that's a long way away. I might even predict who I think will win the awards for this season, but most of that is an open/shut case.
The thing I like doing most to kick off a year, though, is predicting breakout players at each position. Two years ago I predicted Adrian Beltre to bust out, and he did. He may be a one-hit wonder, but I predicted that correct one-hit, and I take pride in that.
If you have any suggestions for me, give me a comment here or there or anywhere. Or shoot me an e-mail to rbooth [at] overthemonster [dot] com.
