Congratulations, Barry Bonds. You hit your 756th career home run last night. The most home runs by any major league baseball player ever. More than the Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth and any other player to ever step in the batter's box.

Now, please, finish out the season on your fragile, close-to-snapping-in-two knees and retire.

I know you said last night there's a lot of baseball left to be played, but who the hell wants to put you on their team in 2008? I don't even think Peter McGowan and the Giants want you back. I think that'd have more luck with you in left field if they put you in a wheel chair.

As you can tell, I have a lot of disdain for Mr. Bonds. I believe he has used steroids and every other possible performance enhancement drug that could in any way help him hit home runs. Some might say I'm jumping to conclusions, but there's too much evidence that has smacked me in the face for me to feel otherwise. No evidence is concrete, of course, but it's enough for me to feel the way I do.

There's a few things I've hated about this whole Bonds home run watch:

1. We, as fans, are subdued to watching a -- I'll say it -- cheater become the greatest record holder in sports. As I've said before, I love that we're seeing the greatest record in sports broken, it just sucks that it's completely tainted now.
   
2. Bonds does two things: hit home runs and walk. We've had to watch this for years and years and years when great all-around players don't even get TV time because they're not "chasing" anything. I mean, I've seen more Bonds on TV in the past 2 days than I have ever seen of Marlins' Miguel Cabrera on SportsCenter. And if you ask me, or a lot of fans, they'd say they'd rather watch Cabrera than Bonds.
   
3. Lastly, I feel really bad for ESPN's Pedro Gomez and his family. Poor guy has had the blunt of the punishment in the "Bonds Watch." But it's finally over for him. I really hope ESPN will give Gomez the pick of the litter when it comes to stories because this guy deserves it after sniffing Bonds' butt for years on end.
