These two don't split a series to the Indians. Especially that guy on the left. Lazy bastard.

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, hell yes everyone. Let's get the negative out of the way first. Gabbolicious lost it a bit in the 5th inning. This is okay, because Cliff Lee never had it. I'm not talking about those ridiculouso eBay commercials either. Anyone catch him tipping his hat to the crowd at Jacobs Field as he was pulled? Yikes. As our "friend" Hawk Harrelson would say: "He gone."

Positive? Everyone but Youks had a hit, and he still reached base twice. Leading the charge was "Being" with a 3-4, BB, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R batting line. His assistant on this night? Not pictured: WMP. 4 for 5, barely missing out on the cycle, knocked in 4, scored twice, and was not one of the 5 struck out by Indians' pitching.

Tavarez had some difficulty, especially after a Lugo fielding error, but this was still a mostly-comfortable win. Speaking of The Wrath of CoN, he extended his hitting streak with a single from the leadoff spot. Too many good hitting performances to list, though Lowell's hit with the bases loaded was nice.

Okajima and J-Lo brought us home safely, with easy uneventful 8th and 9th innings respectively.

Who else? "Being", for his carry the team on his back effort to win the game, and I even heard he paid for everyone's drinks later. (This part probably not true.) I'd say anyone who had WMP down as their PoTG probably deserves points too.

I'll go with Lugo, whose error didn't really help anyone to relax or feel able to go to bed early.

another post about WMP. plz not again, you might think but as long as WMP is still with us i do not stop stressing how much talent he has.

when Ortiz was hurt i watched the games but WMP was benched.

sure enough when i decide to go to sleep one night instead of watching the sox WMP plays.
and he did good at the plate (i heard he made a nice play few games ago but i missed that play).

i looked at the HR he has hit and i am very pleased.
(again it was a firstpitch-swing, which i do not like at all, but this pitch sucked.)

this is the cut i really would like to see more often from WMP.

smooth, controlled, devastating.

just my 2 cents on that cut:

good timing on that one. thus a swing which would be a good 2B for most players results in an easy HR for WMP.
more controlled weightshift. when you compare the monster-HR from the game in Toronto (Apr. 17) with this "weak" one you will see he stays a little more back (resulted this time in excellent timing) and looks overall littlebit more controlled with the whole body.
if he will/would get better with pitch selection (needs playing time) this is the cut to 50-60 HR a season (YES, even 60 are possible! already had once 26 HR in about 360 PA for Cincinnati in 04.).

(while i was impressed from that one in Toronto, he will miss more balls with that bigger stride (weightshifting) and has more troubles with his timing.)

i still do not like his stride. it forces too much headmovement in my opinion. WMP has enough power to hit without any stride at all so he should limit the weightshifting (btw, how and WHY became Magadan the battingcoach? slept with the ugly sister of Fancona?!?).

maybe it is possible for WMP to learn a bit from the stride of Manny?
reducing headmovement (a few years ago it was even better), and still cocking the hips.

man i would love to see this swing with Mannys stride.

but i do not belive that that will happen soon.
when he came i thought "WOW, wait 'till this guy learns hitting from Manny and Ortiz. but he did not to much 'till now."

i could go on talking about that swing (especially when i am not sure to see him again very soon) and what i like to do with WMP.

at last i have a question maybe someone could help me out.
is it true that WMP has hit the longest (estimated) HR in FenwayPark history? (i thought i read something like that somewhere.)

just interested.
for sure i would like to see him hit more short homers instead of a few monsters.

(german somebody? "Nicht die Laenge sondern das Vor und Zurueck macht die Meter!", i was told by a lumberman i worked with once. translation:"Not the length but the back and forth gets you the meters!")

keep WMP and give him a chance next year. p l e a s e Theo.

(i know WMP is no alternative to JD in RF but do not forget that JD gets some money for hitting too.)

I've got to admit, after last night's performance I felt that same old spark that I felt at the beginning of last season. But then my sense of reason kicked in.

I don't doubt that WMP can be an excellent hitter. Unfortunately for him, and us, it's not going to happen in a Sox uniform. He's behind Manny and Papi in the depth charts. Maybe Theo decides to flip Manny to make room for WMP, but I don't see that happening.

Just my two cents. Keep the change.
