Ben Sheets? Red Sox? Can something/nothing happen please?
What say you? Interested? Not?
I could see this being the kind of deal Coco would be involved in, especially considering the issues this guy had last season both offensively and defensively.
What else might be required? No f'in clue.
Obviously, there's the easily voiced reservations about injury history, etc. And he did post a 1.238 WHIP in the NL Central.
Also, that Hank Steinbrenner is hilarious, no?
Oh. And, during the day today, try to find a Yankee fan who's obsessed with the idea that Beckett will be pushing like mad to re-negotiate his contract if the Sox trade for and sign Santana. ...it won't be difficult.
I don't think he would, and does he have the kind of body of work-leverage to make such a thing reality?

Re: Beckett's contract
However, I still think anyone who truly believes that both A) Josh would insist on restructuring his contract NOW and B) would actually have the leverage to do so, are well, out of their f'in gourds.

Re: Beckett's contract
Sox have an option for Becks at $12M for 2010.
So, it'd be three years of Santana's extension (5 years, I think/hope) (he's signed for this year for a very reasonable price, IIRC).
In other words.
- both for relative peanuts.
- Becks: $10.5, Santana: $20
- Becks: $12, Santana: $20
- This is where it could get a bit crazy, but think of what the economics of MLB might be at this point. We could have guys like Carlos Silva and Kyle Lohse looking at $15M per by this point. So, Becks for $20 and Santana for $20 could look reasonable by this point, and it'd only be two (assuming EVERYTHING goes our way) for three seasons (2011-2013).
