Brendan Donnelly denies steroid use

PrintFormer Red Sox reliever Brendan Donnelly said in a prepared statement today that he has never used steroids before:
But what strikes me is the fact he didn't try to clear his name with George Mitchell. Mitchell said he contacted everyone named so they could tell their side of the story, but did Donnelly not take him up on the offer? Did Mitchell really offer all players to refute the allegations? It all seems really fishy to me, but I also don't think we'll ever hear the whole truth.
Donnelly also said he and his agent were still talking to the Red Sox about re-signing with the team.
