Yanks, A-Rod agree to "outline" of 10-year, $275 contract

Breaking news. Links to come.

[editor's note, by Randy Booth] ESPN has some info:

Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have agreed to the outline of a $275 million, 10-year contract, a deal that potentially would allow him to earn millions more if he sets the career home run record. The amount of the guaranteed money was revealed by a person familiar with the negotiations who spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been finalized. A-Rod met Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., with the Steinbrenner brothers but the parameters of the deal were set in place last weekend.
Hmm. $350 million to start talks, huh Boras? I guess you can't live up to your demands. So basically this means that the $275 is the cieling this off-season.

Re:
Wasn't he going to get $30 plus in 2011 under the old deal? So wasn't this essentially a pay cut?
Manny Ramirez is a bad man

Re:
It sort of is a cut, because the yankees lost 20 or so mil from a-rod opting out, so if arod signs theyr taking that out of his salary.

Re: Ego-Rod & Boras
Hee hee hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

If Boras is still his agent, then A-Rod deserves it.

LOL

Re:
And not to mention Boras' bragging about how "anyone" who wants to talk to his client should "bring $35 million".

That baloney and the bomb he dropped during the Series is just too rich.

Re: Don't Mean to Hijack the thread, but...
A former ballplayer for the Pirates.

His Dad was quite good, back in the day.

But the acorn seems to have rolled far, far from the tree.

Oh. I don't think I have ever seen that name in the history book before...

Re: Don't Mean to Hijack the thread, but...
Sorry again about the hijack - I just noticed it over in the Diaries under "HOLY COW".

I do feel badly that I've spread the stench that is Barry Bonds onto this fine forum.

Let us do away with it.

So if Boras is A-Rod's "agent" ...
... how is that the AP (Ron Blum) is now reporting that Boras wasn't even involved in the negotiations?

Re: So if Boras is A-Rod's "agent" ...
I heard rumblings that A-Rod was going to ditch Boras. Never heard anything after that...
