I was wrong

After the Red Sox were swept by the Yankees in late August and were subsequently beaten by the Orioles in the first game of the next series, I came on this website and wrote a diary claiming that I thought the Sox were done. I am here to publically admit that I was VERY wrong. I am here to eat my crow. After my post, I was called names, my knowledge of baseball and stats in general (I have a business degree by the way, if there is one thing I know, it is stats) were called into question. So I am here to tell all of you that I was wrong. At the time, the Sox had been swept by New York, Manny was hurt, Wakefield was hurt, Drew was not hitting, Okajima and Matsuzaka were hitting a wall and Eric Gagne sucked (well I guess that one hasnt changed much). Since that time, JD Drew has gotten hot, Manny came back and has gotten hot, Mike Lowell and David Ortiz have gone on an unbelievable roll and rookies like Jacoby Ellsbury and Clay Buchholz have reenergized this team. And here we are on the cusp of an ALDS series with the Angels having won the division, having clinched home field throughout and having a perfectly aligned pitching staff for the playoff run. I like our chances against the Angels as I think they are a very beatable team (does Lackey scare any Red Sox fan? How about Escobar? Didnt think so). I still worry about the Yankees as the Sox didnt show an ability to beat them in August or September in big games but I think the AL is wide open this year and hopefully the Sox stay on this roll and bring home another chanpionship. Sorry guys, I was dead wrong.

It goes excellent with crow.

Teasing... No worries man, you're not the first Sox to push the panic button.

Just my two cents. Keep the change.

Re: I was wrong
As far as the Yanks are concerned, consider the following - they beat the Indians all 6 times they played.  But they never faced C.C. Sabathia in any of those games.  Carmona's pretty good too.  Unless A-rod can really overcome his post season deflations, they ain't commin' to the ALCS.

I assume this refers
to this.

Sometimes the best conversations are the ones that start, and finish, inside your own head.

Britsoxfan,
I'm in London during the playoffs...any ideas where I can watch the games?
Cheers,

Hmm... good question
Anything useful here? Depends where you're based, I suppose.

I'd try the Sports Cafe, which is bound to be jumping. Very central.

The Queen's Head looks like a good bet too (staff dressed like baseball umpires), though it's somewhat out in the sticks.

Also, if you're rather stay in your hotel room (or wherever), Channel 5 carried playoff games last year. You'll be able to get that channel on any TV. Can't tell from their website whether they'll be doing the same this year.

Good luck!

Re: Hmm... good question
Thanks!  I've been to the Sports Cafe and it was a scarring  experience.  The worst of everything sports culture in the US has to offer transplanted.  It may be my only hope!  Again, appreciate the source material. Go Sox!
