Sports Network | August 15, 2008

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays placed reliever Troy Percival on the 15-day disabled list Friday with a cartilage injury to his right knee. It's the 39-year-old's third trip to the DL this season.

Percival sustained the injury in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He is 2-0 with 27 saves and a 3.69 earned run average in 41 games for the AL East-leading Rays.

The right-hander ranks seventh on the all-time saves list with 351.

In a corresponding move, the team recalled pitcher Juan Salas from Triple-A Durham.
