Fantasy talk
Just to kind of clean up the gamethreads and non-fantasy related posts, I'm putting this here. Fantasy players can discuss their teams, make trades, compare strategies, or do whatever here. Rec this post so it stays near the top of the list and we don't have to make another one for a while. Um, I still need words to make this a legit fanpost, but I don't know what to talk about, so... how was everyone's day?

Adrian in the outfield.
Since Jacoby is out of the lineup for an extended stay, i have a creative solution to fix this. I know Bobby Valentine has said he would like to play Adrian in right so Pappy can play first against the National League. Since we have an elite prospect tearing the cover off the ball at triple a in WMB, what if we move Adrian to right, Youk back to first and give Will Middlebrook an early call up to see what the kid can do?
The Red Seat (Repost)
I posted this story on May 5th of last year, since we're all kind of looking for something to cheer us up with the way the season has gone so far I thought it might be nice to bring it up again. I wrote this a long time ago, back when I was just starting to find out what it meant to be a Red Sox fan, so I hope you all enjoy it.
Feeling sad but somewhat optimistic post-loss
With 6 games completed we know a little more than we did before the season started. Many of my positions have been altered slightly in that time. Some of this is good news, I would say. Some of it is not.
Francona opens up
I feel for the guy and agree with his assessment of the situation. The organization went out of their way to embarrass him and attack him personally as he was on his way out (especially the pain medication accusation)*. Completely unnecessary on their part, and an embarrassing act by any organization.
*Even if you don't agree that the organization (or someone high up in it) purposely released this information, they DID NOT go out of their way to refute the accusations publicly, nor did they return Francona's calls after the story broke.
It will be a shame that Francona won't be there, as he's one of the top-2 managers (possibly the best) in the history of the club. Give it some time - 5 years or so - and I'm sure the bad blood will settle and he'll return for a Francona Day or something of that nature.
On the Plus side...
Maybe NOW ownership will decide doing nothing is a bad idea, and get us what we desperately need. Pitching.
I know this is going to sound complainey, but I've been a huge fan of getting pitching all offseason. I wanted to keep Erik Bedard. I wanted to sign Edwin Jackson.... even if it was an overpay. I wanted to sign Oswalt, trade for a starter, anything.
I wanted to get us that legit starter at the back of the rotation so we could put Bard where he truly belongs. The bullpen. I know it's a REALLY small sample, but I have no confidence in Aceves as the closer, and I have less confidence in Melancon than I did when we acquired him, which is low.
If we act now, and get SOMETHING (I'm pretty sure we could get something, somewhere.) we could move Bard to the closer role, hand Ace the set up role, and use Melancon in the 7th like he's supposed to be used.
Gamethread I guess?
It's 4:02 and there's not a gamethread that I can see yet, so I'll make one. Beckett is taking on Doug Fister today in the second game of the season for the Boston Red Sox. I'm being forced to watch the game while Joe Buck provides commentary and he's already pissed me off. Let's hope today is the day we shut everyone up about last September. Hope everyone has a great day and Go Sox!

Ooooooooooohhhhh, man! I'm so excited!!
Now, I know that I've been a tad pessimistic about this off-season. And, well, that's because nobody has done anything that I like. But, don't let that make you believe that I'm not looking forward to 162 games of swearing at the screen.
The off-season is over, y'all! It's time to start kickin' ass and takin' names! It's been a long winter. But at 2:05pm (Atlantic Daylight Time), it ends. Sure...I may have to be sober because someone decided that it would be a good idea to start this game in the middle of the afternoon (oh...COME ON!), and some of us actually have to work be at work while watching baseball. But that's okay.
For all of my off-season pessimism is gone, and in its stead is the optimism of a brand new season. Where the Boston Red Sox have fresh, clean slate with which to say,
"You know what, Bloggy? You don't have a goddamn idea what yer talkin' about."
Make me look stupid, boys.
Where Are They Now?: Red Sox Alumni
Opening Day Rosters have been released for all 30 ML teams and some of your favorite Ex-Red Sox players are among the lists. I've taken the liberty/time to compile a list of them for you here, by team for your enjoyment.
* = Drafted by the Sox
** = Signed as an Amatuer Free Agent
Bobby V with Michael Kay??
This came out yesterday, but I just heard about it today. I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, so I figured I'd do a quick Fanpost. It looks like our new and beloved manager, will be doing a weekly radio spot on the Michael F'ing Kay show for ESPN Radio 1050 New York. I have to admit, this guy is is one ballsy SOB. Either that, or he's just a self promoting Jack***.
