Re: Infield hit for Damon scores 1... crap
I just got home and for some idiotic reason, ESPN refuses to show the game here for the moment -- it's been on commercials for the past 5 minutes -- but how the hell do you get an infield single with the bases loaded?

by RSNexile on Sep 14, 2007 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Re: Infield hit for Damon scores 1... crap
Damon hit it into the dirt in front of home, it bounced over Timlin, and Pedroia couldn't come in fast enough because he had to avoid Cabrera running from first.

Re: Jeter strikes out... 5-2 Sox
28 pitches in the first inning (without anything being hit hard) killed him. He showed some nasty stuff, and enough pitch variation to freeze a couple HOFers.

Overall, I'm very encouraged by tonite's start.

Just my two cents. Keep the change.

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
That was a lousy jump by Lugo, and poor technique too. You always take your first step with your foot closest to first base; when you step first with your right foot, you don't go anywhere and it's a wasted step.

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
I know it's a little unconventional to steal third in this particular situation, but it's not a "bad move" as the announcers claim. Lugo has been giving the MFYs fits since he got on base, and didn't Coco cause a balk just about a week ago by messing with the other team's minds?

And another to Cano. On both of them, he just hung the pitch up over the heart of the plate. That's inexcusable.

Double by Damon, and they're bringing in Paps now.

But now he probably won't be available the rest of the series, so Gagne better be ready and not blow it tomorrow.

Re: Walk to Cabrera... please insert Paps here

Where are all you guys?  Ridiculous.  After that display, you would think there would be some comments.  Any of you that have the nerve to call anyone fair weather or bandwagon fans are a joke.  It is the Yankees and Red Sox.  It is only midnight on the East Coast.  Where are all you "fans".  Let's hear the excuses now, guys.  C'mon...I really want to hear it.  C'mon, do you all go to bed and curl up like the Sox do when they play the Yankees.  Look, I will start it...our manager could not manage a bullpen to save his life.  He is always one batter too freaking late.

Every freaking year except 2004.  Every freaking year.  Every freaking year.  It is really embarrasing.  I wish I never let people know I was a Sox fan at the office.

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
Dude, we play like crap against the yanks. We are still ahead of them. I agree Tito isn't the greatest manager and his choices this year have really made me scratch my head. Tito has a free pass because of 2004, it is what it is.  If you fire Tito you hafta trade Manny because nobody will put up with his shit. So its solving one problem but creating another. Im not embarrased to be a die hard Sox fan because we have lost 4 straight to the MFY, Im dissapointed. Im extremely happy we are going to be in the playoffs no matter what.

This has not been a Sox collpase, this has been the MFY playing unreal good baseball since the break. It freaking happens man. Life goes on, we are going to be okay. Please don't forget our future HOF left fielder hasnt been playing the last month and how well have we done?  I am not going to panic even if we get swept.

Newsflash** The Yankees have a great lineup, better than ours.  We arent getting beat like this against the Royals.  Smile bro, we are going to the playoffs. anything can happen if you just get in.  Im 10x more worried about Cleveland and Anaheim than I am the MFY...and the MFY should be too! Fausto/CC is a scary thought.

Let's Not Get Hysterical

I fell asleep at 7-2 Sox; woke up top of 9th --8-7 Yanks. I wanted to cry; considered not following baseball anymore but realized I was freaking out.

Yeah "Every freaking year" EXCEPT 1986, 1995, 2004 --yeah it kind of sux but it is what it is. I'd like to say 2004 is "enough" but the bad guys always seems to win.  I hope the Sox take the next two...

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
I would have thought Francona would remove Okajima after he gave up two home runs to two lefties. He has an awfully slow trigger and that put Paps in a tough position. Jeter's hit was on a very good pitch. Paps was not fully ready to pitch and Abreau's hit was on a pitch down the middle. By the time Paps settled down it was too late.

With Okajima's recent history, I think Francona needs to see that he doesn't have it and make the change to a different middle reliever who at least possibly has some game to bring. Francona tends to be very slow to react to pitching woes.

by Longsuffering on Sep 15, 2007 8:24 AM EDT reply actions

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
I agree.  Francona cannot manage this bullpen.  Read Rotoworld on the left...says the same thing.  Oki is wearing down.  Why keep him out there after he gives up two bombs to put two more guys on?

by cblesz @ Over the Monster on Sep 15, 2007 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Re: Open Thread: 9.14.07 vs. New York (AL)
I wasn't sure why Oki was there in the first place. 5 runs up, why use our set-up guy? Why not keep in Lopez to face the two lefties. Where were Snyder and MDC?

And the late hook... If not after the back to back HRs, how about after the walk?

Just my two cents. Keep the change.
