Can we please get Lugo out of the lead of slot? His OBP is WAY too low to justify it.

Lugo trying to prove you wrong
Leadoff single :)
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Finally..
A pitching matchup that favours us.  It seems like we've been throwing Tavarez against everyone's # 1 every time out.

Hatchet Face hasn't been too bad in some of those matchups, though.

I hate the bunt there
C'mon guys, it's Lenny DiNardo!  Remy thinks Pedroia was doing it on his own.

DiNardo on thr ropes ...
Back-to-back two out walks to manny and Youk, and the first pitch to Lowell in the dirt.  Lenny looks shaky.  Let's hope the Sox don't let him off the hook!
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

Crap ...
Easy fly to LF ... inning over.  Let me say it again, I hate first inning bunts!  Why give up an out, and Dusty is one of the hotter hitters on the team.

I was out of the room at the time so I can't say.  Then again, how often does he do anything "decently" in the field?

Tons of foul territory in Oakland
It looked like Lowell ran for miles for that foul pop up to end the inning.  Dice-K's off-speed stuff looks much better tonight.  He went off-speed to strikeout Swisher and Johnson popped up an off-speed pitch to end the inning.
I gotta go 'cause I'm probably definitely gonna nod out again.

3 walks for DiNardo already
Lenny looks really shaky.  They'd better knock him out early.

dice-k question
He's got alot of different pitches, K's alot of guys.  But he seems to give up quite a few hits or walks, sometimes both every time out.  Do you think its just him adjusting to the hitters?  Do you reckon he can learn to pitch better against major league hitting?

by sydneysox on Jun 5, 2007 11:16 PM EDT reply actions

Re: dice-k question
Of course there needs to be an adjustment (look at what Beckett went through last year).  Actually, he cut his walks down the past few starts.  I think part of the trouble is he likes to strike guys out, so he runs lots of deep counts.  Early on, he tried to throw all of his pitches instead of just the ones that were working that particular game.
