Pawtucket W 8-4
Brennan Boesch: 3-5, HR, K
Deven Marrero: 0-5, K
Well, Brennan Boesch is doing what he can to put himself in line for a call-up if the Red Sox want to keep Brock Holt out of a full-time starting role.
Portland L 5-6
Yoan Moncada: 1-3, BB, K, POCS
Mauricio Dubon: 2-4, 3B
Andrew Benintendi: 2-4, HR, K
Teddy Stankiewicz: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
Six homers for Benintendi since being bumped up to Portland. I've got no idea where the power was in Salem--not that it was particularly problematic for him--but it's nice to have it back in full force now. I'd guess it had something to do with the weather, but Salem, VA isn't all that chilly.
Greenville W 4-3 (In 10)
Luis Alejandro Basabe: 1-2, 3 BB
Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-4, BB, K
Josh Ockimey: 1-4, 2B, BB
Kyri Washington: 0-4, BB, 3 K
Michael Chavis: 2-4, 2B, BB, K, E
Austin Rei: 0-4, 2 K
Marc Brakeman: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Josh Ockimey leads the SAL with 54 walks (good for a ridiculous BB% up around 18), but Luis Alejandro Basabe is the other guy who sticks out as showing plenty of patience on a team that's known as much for strikeouts as anything else. Those three put him solidly in the league's top-10, and he now trails Ockimey in OPS by just a single point (.901 to .900). Greenville is quite the team of interesting breakout performances. None of them are without their flaws. All could fall back to Earth in 2017. But plenty of guys who didn't come into the season as much and will leave having earned plenty of attention.
Lowell W 10-3
Matt McLean: 0-5, 2 K
Yoan Aybar: 0-5
GCL Red Sox L 3-4
Alan Marrero: 1-4, 2 K
Brandon Workman: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Brandon Workman lives! It might take him a while to get to the point where the Sox can see if he has anything to offer their team, but it's nice to have him on the way back up.
