Drew Pomeranz will take the mound for the first time in a Red Sox uniform Wednesday night as the Sox go for the short series sweep over the Giants.
It's nice to come into this game without much pressure. While the Sox would dearly love to force the Orioles to win tonight to keep first place in the East, sweeping the Giants even in just two games is not something that can simply be expected. The Sox have already come away with a good result from this series, and now it's just a question of whether they can produce a great one.
They'll tab the same lineup that faced off against Jake Peavy last night to take on Matt Cain. Thankfully, much like Peavy, that's a name that hasn't been terribly intimidating for a few years now. The Sox did manage to put up four on Peavy, but on just four baserunners, so they'll have to get some more consistent production against Cain if they want to actually give Pomeranz the same amount of support.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN, ESPN, and WEEI.
