Pawtucket W 8-5
Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-5, BB, 2 K
Alex Hassan: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Travis Shaw: 0-4, BB, K
Bryce Brentz: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, BB, K
Deven Marrero: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Blake Swihart: 2-5, 2B, K
Heath Hembree: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Garin Cecchini's on-base streak hits 20 games, even having survived a single pinch-hitting plate appearance a week back. He started the streak with a .315 OBP, and now has that figure up to .343. The boost in SLG has been even bigger, going from .324 to .375, with the doubles finally returning to his game (with a couple homers to boot).
Portland L 1-3
Sean Coyle: 0-4, K
Keury De La Cruz: 3-4, 2B
Brian Johnson: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Sean Coyle is just 5-for-34 since his two-week absence from the lineup. He does have a couple homers in that period, with only three of his 25 balls in play going for hits. So you might chalk it up to luck, somewhat, but at the same time you do have to notice that means nine strikeouts. Coyle's game has been able to compensate for the whiffs before, however, given his power and an acceptable walk rate.
Salem L 3-10
Carlos Asuaje: 1-3, BB, 2 K
No offense to Carlos Asuaje, but Salem already really misses Manuel Margot.
Greenville L 0-10
Cole Sturgeon: 1-4, K
Sam Travis: 0-4, K
Danny Mars: 0-3
Danny Mars is just 3-for-24 since joining the Drive. Welcome to full-season ball.
GCL Red Sox W 8-5
Michael Chavis: 2-4, 2B, BB, SB
Luis Alexander Basabe: 2-3, 2 2B, 2 BB
Josh Ockimey: 0-2, BB, K
Trenton Kemp: 1-4, HR
Luis Alexander Basabe's first experience stateside hasn't been all that great. Most noteworthy is the disappearance of extra-base hits from his game before today--those are numbers five and six in 105 at bats which, for a guy with Basabe's wheels, means he's really not hitting the ball all that well. Hopefully this is the beginning of a turnaround (however short it may be--there is one regular season game left before the playoffs), but even if it's not, he's still in a fine position, having turned 18 just three days ago.
