OOTP League April 2013

The box is locked, the lights are on, it's robot fightin time it's finally time for the regular season. It's been about a month since TLD's original thread gauging interest in an OOTP league. And now, the first week of games will be finally simmed Tuesday night.

You might be interested in the preseason predictions, auto-generated by the game. It had the San Fransisco Warlocks as the best team in the game. But then... well.. we all knew Aaron Auger was too good to be true. RIP Shield Wall's rotation.

If you're just wondering what this thread is about, it's kind of like fantasy baseball. Except it's simulated by a piece of software called Out Of The Park Baseball. So we can keep playing fantasy baseball into the offseason.

You don't need to own a copy of the game to play with us, but for some it's more fun if you have one. We have five four unoccupied teams. You can claim any one you like. Just post a comment and ask about joining.

The old thread was here. As usual, don't worry if the comments to the thread are too much. This post will be updated with the Important Bits of News, so all you have to do is scroll to the top.

Portland Sea Dogs send CF Jake Delaney, SP Dennis Bingham, RF Bob Hoffman and rights and ownership of the Portland Sea Dogs brand to the Portland Red Claws for LF Pancho Garcia and $4,000,000. The Portland Red Claws become the Portland Sea Dogs, the Portland Sea Dogs become the Salem Red Sox.

The newly minted Salem Red Sox send CF Arturo Avila, 2B Danny Miller, CF Ross Bowden, C Bob Evans and 2B Cesar Hernandez to the Kansas City DMGMs for MR Enrico Leyva and $4,050,000.

Bets Tracker

Patriots/Salem Red Sox: Whichever team has a higher W/L record gets to name the other's stadium.

Salem Red Sox/Coal Stokers Home Run Challenge: if 1B Felipe Nieves hits more HRs than the Seattle Mariners get wins, Sea Dogs are awarded a prospect. If Nieves fails (which definitely won't happen), then Coal Stokers are awarded a prospect.

Coal Stokers/Salem Red Sox MVP Challenge: Will SS Terry McClellan win the Big Papi award, aka the MVP Award? Uniform colors are at stake. Should McClellan fail, the Coal Stokers will wear Tampa Bay blue and gold next season. If he makes it, the Sea Dogs are stuck with orange/hot pink uniforms and will probably have to re-brand as the Portland Flaming Flamingos.

Patriots/Salem Red Sox: If the Boston Patriots rank among the top half of teams in runs scored, Salem owes the Patriots $1 of fake OOTP money. If the Patriots finish in the bottom half, the Patriots owe Salem $1.
