Yoenis Cespedes is in the starting lineup Friday night as the Red Sox send Joe Kelly to the mound against Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners.
Cespedes left Thursday night's game against the Angels due to a "family medical emergency." Hopefully his quick return means everything is fine.on that front.
With Cespedes in left, Allen Craig for some reason is shifting over to right. John Farrell's insistence on leaving Cespedes and his arm in left while shifting lesser defenders to right is bizarre, if not terribly important given the state of the season as a whole.
Missing out tonight are Brock Holt and Mike Napoli. Daniel Nava fits in at first base with Boston's usual starter still on the shelf with back issues. On the whole, it's looking like a rather shaky defense behind Joe Kelly, who could really use a good start with his new team.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
