The Red Sox will have Mookie Betts in center field, fresh from Pawtucket as they send Brandon Workman to the mound to open a series against the Angels in Fenway Park.
It's depressing to see Jackie Bradley Jr. headed back down to the minors after a long, arduous season in Boston, but getting Betts some consistent playing time in the majors is a positive. He hasn't exactly torn things up in his first 40-odd at bats in the big leagues, but the combination of a small sample size and the on-off nature of his appearances makes that hard to put much stock in.
To say nothing of the fact that he's a 21-year-old rookie.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
