The Red Sox will put their winning streak to the test Tuesday night, pitting it against Jake Peavy's losing streak as they send the veteran righty to the mound against J.A. Happ.
To Peavy's credit, his recent losses haven't really been his fault. Over his last three games, Peavy has allowed a more-than-respectable six runs in 19 innings of work, striking out a batter an inning and allowing just 22 baserunners. The Red Sox simply haven't gotten the job done behind him, scoring eight runs in those games, with six coming in a 7-6 loss to the Orioles stemming from a Burke Badenhop implosion.
No, while Peavy did a pretty good job of earning his 1-X record earlier in the season, of late it's been the rest of the team that's let him down. Hopefully they do not do the same one night after putting up 14 on Drew Hutchison and the Jays. J.A. Happ has done little to impress, after all.
First pitch is at 7:07 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
