One day after producing a walkoff victory over the White Sox, Mike Carp will start at first base, batting cleanup for the Red Sox against Scott Feldman and the Astros.
Talk about being thrown right back into the thick of things. With just three pinch-hit appearances separating him from a month-long stint on the disabled list, Mike Carp is not simply back in the lineup, but batting fourth behind David Ortiz. Quite the assignment given that he's hitting just .219/.318/.288 on the year.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of the order, Mookie Betts is the man missing out in Boston's constant shuffle of youth players, with Stephen Drew finding his way into the lineup at short and Brock Holt in right. Christian Vazquez will get the start behind the plate, catching John Lackey for the first time.
First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
