Red Sox minor lines: Fear the Sea Dogs

The Portland Sea Dogs just cannot be stopped.

Pawtucket W 4-2

Mookie Betts: 0-2, 2 BB
Mike Carp: 0-2
Travis Shaw: 1-3, 2B
Garin Cecchini: 0-3, BB, E

Allen Webster: 7.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
Drake Britton: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Pawtucket W 6-4

Mike Carp: 1-3, K
Travis Shaw: 0-4, 2 K
Garin Cecchini: 0-4, K
Christian Vazquez: 3-4, 2B, HR, K
Alex Hassan: 3-4, K

Steven Wright: 7 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HR
Alex Wilson: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Rich Hill: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Pawtucket W 7-4

Travis Shaw: 1-4, HR, K
Alex Hassan: 2-4, 2B

Drake Britton: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HR

Christian Vazquez is hitting .293/.349/.480 in June, which may well be contributing to all the rumors we've heard about A.J. Pierzynski's time in Boston running short.

Portland W 12-2

Deven Marrero: 1-4, 2B, 2 BB
Blake Swihart: 1-2, 4 BB
Sean Coyle: 1-3, 3 BB, K
Keury De La Cruz: 5-6, 2B, K

Brian Johnson: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K

Alright, well, let's just stop on this game to mention that Swihart just increased his season walk total by 25% in one game. Sure, given the performances of Marrero and Coyle, and the fact that the usually stingy Johnson gave up four free passes suggests there may have been some strike zone shenanigans going on. But we've seen a more well-rounded game out of Swihart in general this past month, and this is just an exclamation mark.

Portland W 4-3

Deven Marrero: 2-4, HR
Blake Swihart: 1-4, 2B
Sean Coyle: 1-4, HR, K
Keury De La Cruz: 0-3, K

Portland W 13-9

Deven Marrero: 0-5, K
Sean Coyle: 3-4, 2B, 3B, BB
Keury De La Cruz: 2-5

As a team, the Sea Dogs are hitting .287/.362/.437. The next best team is Binghamton at .273/.348/.414. And this is anything but a team full of lifelong minor league veterans. Somehow Sean Coyle has actually improved on Mookie Betts' production. No surprise that they're 54-27 on the year.

Salem W 4-2

Justin Haley: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

Salem W 4-2

Pat Light: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Salem is the anti-Portland, but at least Pat Light wasn't terrible this time through the rotation.

Greenville L 4-6

Wendell Rijo: 1-4, K
Manuel Margot: 0-4, K

Greenville L 4-5

Forrestt Allday: 0-4, BB, K
Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-3, 2 BB

Greenville L 3-4 (In 10)

Forrestt Allday: 1-5, 2 K
Tzu-Wei Lin: 0-5, K
Wendell Rijo: 1-4, K
Manuel Margot: 1-4, SB, CS

Jamie Callahan: 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 3 HR

Forrestt Allday can't put the bat on the ball of late. His OBP is still nice and robust, but that's based a lot more on early returns than anything recent.

Lowell L 7-8 (In 11)

Danny Mars: 1-5, BB, 2 K
Cole Sturgeon: 1-5
Nick Longhi: 1-5, 2 K
Sam Travis: 3-5, HR, K

Lowell W 4-1

Danny Mars: 0-3
Sam Travis: 1-4, K
Nick Longhi: 2-4, K, CS
Cole Sturgeon: 2-4

Lowell W 7-5

Sam Travis: 3-5, HR

Hello Sam Travis. His professional career got off to a slow start, but he might be turning the page on that after these last few games.

GCL Red Sox W 3-2

Josh Ockimey: 1-4, 3B, K
Victor Acosta: 1-3, BB, 2 K
Trenton Kemp: 1-3, BB, K

GCL Red Sox L 3-4

Josh Ockimey: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Victor Acosta: 0-4, K
Trenton Kemp: 0-4, K

DSL Red Sox W 9-4

Luis Alexander Basabe: 3-5, 2 3B, BB
Rafael Devers: 1-4, 2B, BB
Luis Alejandro Basabe: 1-1, BB

DSL Red Sox W 3-2

Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Rafael Devers: 1-4, K

Luis Alexander Basabe has some odd numbers so far this season. .314/.450/.547 with 22 walks and 23 strikeouts. He's like a two-true outcomes player, but with nine triples in 86 at bats, how much of that is a matter of inexperienced DSL defense, and how much is just a matter of his power just not showing through in the long ball department just yet?
