Pawtucket L 3-6
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, 2B
Stephen Drew: 0-4, K
Travis Shaw: 0-3, BB, K
Christian Vazquez: 1-4
It's been rough going for Stephen Drew in his rehab assignment, but that's not really surprising. He took a couple of weeks worth of games to make his way back from his concussion last year, but after that looked like the above-average offensive shortstop we expected.
There is, however, the possibility that the Red Sox will be more flexible with their schedule on Drew given how well Brock Holt has done in the time he's had. If Drew is still feeling a little rusty when his 25 at bats are in and all.
Portland W 2-1
Mookie Betts: 0-4, K
Deven Marrero: 1-4
Blake Swihart: 1-4
Sean Coyle: 1-4, 2B, K
Henry Owens: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Noe Ramirez: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Welcome back, Henry Owens! He had us worried with, frankly, a pretty bad month of pitching. In his last two games, though, Owens has thrown 14 shutout innings showing much better control in the process (three walks). This is definitely closer to what we expected from the young lefty when the year began.
Greenville W L 2-4
Forrestt Allday: 2-4, K
Wendell Rijo: 0-4
Manuel Margot: 2-4
Trey Ball: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
It took Trey Ball 41 pitches to record those two outs. He is what he is right now, and given his age that's not so terrible. But it's painful to watch.
